Ok. So the Orioles come into their first off-day since Opening Day with a 2-14 record. Worst in the majors. The O's are getting little to no runs in each game, and that includes games against pitchers like Justin Vargas and Dana Eveland. It's absoutely terrible and I for one am fed up with the way Trembley is running this team.

So, after the M's swept up last night, Trembley decided it was time to vent. Well Tremb, your not the only one.

"I've been in a position where I'm a really nice fella and I'll cover. I'll get questions point blank and I feel like I'm a damn presidential press secretary sometimes instead of telling it what is it. I have to smooth it over," Trembley said. "I'm not smoothing it over anymore."

With a break in Sched, it's time to Vent.

The first priority for the Baltimore Orioles going into the off-season was finding a veteran starting pitcher. It took merely a week, and Andy MacPhail found his guy. During the Winter Meetings, MacPhail dealt reliever Chris Ray and Ben Snyder to the Texas Rangers for Kevin Millwood and $3 million dollars.

Some may ask what MacPhail sees in Millwood, and as too why the O's need him. Well, the O's were headed into the 2010 baseball season with a very youthful pitching staff, including Brian Matusz and Chris Tillman, two former top prospects. Millwood not only delievers that expierence the staff has lacked in recent years, but also a solid innings eater that will take away the wear and tear of a young bullpen. Millwood also becomes the teachers in a situation where he was once a student. A dozen-plus years ago, Millwood grew up with the Braves in a rotation that was anchored with the names of Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz.

Millwood fits MacPhails plan

Move over Superman (or Tim Tebow to some), There is a new Man of Steel.

His name is not Colt McCoy. His name isn't Tim Tebow. His name is Toby Gerhart, and he is a member of the Stanford Cardinal.

You may be wondering, 'Whats the big deal about some guy from Stanford?'. I'll tell you the big deal. It's that this guy (and a few others) have turned a Stanford team into a serious contender for the Pac 10 title.

Gerhart didn't just rise to the top as a senior at Stanford, he rose in High School. At the time of his High School career, he totalled a historic 9,662 yards, which would rank 3rd at the time in the American High School football record books. Stanford pounced on Gerhart, and he wa ranked the 40th best running back in the 2006 Recruiting Class.

When Koji Uehara was signed by the Baltimore Orioles in the off-season, not many knew that he was to become the first Japanese-born Oriole player. Ever. he also brought along hope for a better season and a better pitching rotation. So far, only a month and a half into the season, he has. Since his implosive game against the Texas Rangers, his earned run average has dropped off.

Hailing from Osaka, Uehara pitched for a lot of years in his home country of Japan before becoming posted as a free agent this past off-season. He spent all nine seasons in Japan playing for the Yomiuri Giants. His rookie season was 1999, where he won the Central league Rookie of the Year award. That season was also the debut season in Japan of a youngster named Diasuke Matsuzaka. Uehara would end the season by outperforming Matsuzaka. That wasn't even the major award he won in '99. Uehara would be named Sawamura Award winner, which is given to the best pitcher in Japan.

Trembley shouldn't be the future Dave Trembley is not the answer for manager for the future of the Baltimore Orioles. The same goes to some of the coaching staff.

Trembley became the manager in late 2007 after Sam Perlozzo was fired as manager when the MacPhail regimine came into the organization. That year, he went 40-53 in 93 games. It was a questionable move at the time, considering Trembley had spent all 22 years of his coaching expierence in the minor leagues, and he became the only manager at the time to have never played pro baseball. During the first half of the 2007 season, Trembley was the O's bullpen coach. This was the first coaching job in the majors he ever had.

Then came the 2008 season. Yet again, Trembley's managing was poor, even for a team that wasn't supposed to be that good. The O's looked impressive towards the end of June and July, only a handful of games out of first. However, late in the season with the O's looking at their first possible season above .500, they faltered and lost 28 of their last 34 games. All the blame cannot be placed on Trembley, but it can on the coaching staff.

Baltimore Orioles

As many know, the O's are 13 games back heading into a a week where trades will be made and teams will be buying more and more talent for the playoff run. The O's have some very nice talent stocked for any team needing either a dominate reliever (George Sherrill), a speedy second baseman (Brian Roberts), or a serious morale booster (Kevin Millar). The O's are in need of a serious boost of youth to turn around an organization which is in a pothole.

The organization has 1/4 of the team turned around, with rising stars Nick Markakis and Adam Jones in the line-up, and catching prospect Matt Wieters in AA Bowie. In the off-season, GM Andy MacPhail made 2 huge moves when he dealt star shortstop Miguel Tejada to the Houston Astros for 5 players and pitching staff ace Erik Bedard to the Seattle Mariners for 5 as well. For Tejada, the O's recieved another good trade chip in left fielder Luke Scott, as well as 4 other young players. Dennis Sarfate was one of the young players, and he has been very good in the middle relief slot all season, posting a 3.78 ERA and a 9.36 K/9. Matt Albers was another part of the deal. He posted a solid 3.49 ERA in 49 innings before he was injured. However, he should be back by late August after rehabbing a torn labrum. They had also one of the best left handed pitching prospects in MLb in Troy Patton, who tore his labrum in Spring Training and should be back next season. The other prospect was third baseman Mike Costanzo who is currently ikn AAA Norfolk.

Frederick pitcher Brandon Erbe acknowledges he's had his high and low points this season. Tuesday was definitely one of his high points.

The 20-year-old right-hander posted a career-high 12 strikeouts in seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit without any walks to pick up the win as the visiting Keys topped the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 3-1. At one point, he retired 19 batters in a row.

"It was one of those nights where I felt like I had good command of all three pitches [fastball, slider, change]," Erbe said. "I had a mind-set of getting ahead early in the count and making them put the ball in play.

"Pitching is a real learning process," he added. "The biggest thing is learning how to read guys' swings."

from baltimoresun.com

By. Dan Connolly

When Orioles reliever Jamie Walker walked into the home clubhouse yesterday, he was "pumped up."

Walker saw the Orioles' 1979 throwback uniform, the orange stirrups and the cartoon bird hat waiting for him in his locker. It was all part of the Orioles' turn-back-the-clock celebration recognizing the "Orioles Magic" club of 1979, which eventually lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 7 of the World Series.

Brandon Erbe has admittedly been inconsistent at times this season. But he seems to find his groove whenever the Wilmington Blue Rocks are in the opposing dugout.

Erbe struck out a season-high nine over seven hitless innings and combined with two relievers on a one-hitter Wednesday as the Frederick Keys edged the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 3-1, at Harry Grove Stadium.

After plunking Joseph Dickerson with two outs in the opening frame, Erbe settled in and retired the next 16 batters. He struck out the side in the sixth and took the no-hitter into the seventh.

"I felt really good and the defense was making some great plays behind me," said Erbe. "Our shortstop [Ryan McCarthy] saved a hit up the middle in the first inning and I was able to get ahead of the hitters early in the count."

from Baltimoresun.com

BOSTON - Orioles pitching coach Rick Kranitz is attributing Daniel Cabrera's struggles the past two outings to problems with his delivery, which has affected the movement on his two-seam fastball.

In his past two outings, Cabrera has allowed 12 earned runs and 15 hits spanning 11 innings, squandering three-run leads in each outing. After allowing six earned runs to the Boston Red Sox in the series opener Tuesday, Cabrera said he's having problems getting his two-seam fastball down in the zone.

"He hasn't been as consistent with his delivery as it had been," Kranitz said. "And that's why we're seeing a little bit of the [problems] that have popped up the last few times out. He's not driving the ball down like he did. ... Sometimes guys go through little spells. I'm not worried about him."

1: Matt Holliday/LF Colorado Rockies

Possible Suitors: Atlanta Braves; Cleveland Indians; New York Mets;

The Rockies are 10 games behind the NL West leader Arizona Diamondbacks, and could switch to rebuilding a bit. If they do, Holliday would be the biggest prize in the Trade Market. He would warrant between 5-7 good prospects from a team, so anybody looking at him better have a darn good Farm System. However, the main reason Holliday is on here is because the contract negotiations between he and the Rockies are clubling apart, and getting a load of Top Prospects for him is the best thing possible for the Rox.

2: Brian Roberts/2B Baltimore Orioles

All around the MLB fanbase, I have heard that the O's will finish lasy place in the AL East, that they will not win more than 50 games, and they will lose somewhere way over 100 games. I understand that some people believe the Bedard and Tejada trades were huge downgrades, but in reality, its not. Erik Bedard was a huge contributer to a 69 win Orioles team in 2007, but he was not fully there in April and missed all of September, ending the season of the Cy Young candidate. In the trade, the O's recieved two key pieces to this O's team in 2008, Adam Jones and George Sherrill. Jones stepped into the O's organization and was quickly granted a starting spot in center field over veteran Jay Payton. Jones has superstar potential, and will probably start slow, but should work out in a major way as the season progress'. Sherrill stepped in as the leading candidate for the closer role, vacant due to Tommy John surgery on Chris Ray. Not only will Sherrill be a key to the O's season, he will be a very good trade chip at the deadline, as well as the O's other two veteran relievers(Walker, Bradford). In that trade, the O's also reciever the M's Top Pitching Prospect, Chris Tillman(19) and one of the M's best pitching prospects, Tony Butler(20) and Ms relief prospect Kameron Mickolio(23). Mickolio could a be a helpful asset to this young O's team if any reliever get injured/traded.
